Hello, you have stumbled upon the personal website of Richard Louis. I started my career in aviation as a baggage handler at CYYZ. I studied aerospace engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly called Ryerson University) and followed it with a PPL at a local flight school instead of doing a master's. So far in my career I have mostly worked on problems related to flight operations and navigation data. I love playing music and usually bring up this fact within five minutes of meeting new people; you have been warned.
Over the years I've collected a large set of project notes and other thoughts. It occurred to me recently that some people may find them interesting. This website is a compromise between making a YouTube channel, which is way too much work, and having my notes just sit on my computer, where they are not useful to anybody. Most of the content is about aerospace and aviation, but you will also find some notes about music, movies, and books.
Fan mail, complaints and other feedback can be sent to richard@aeronotes.ca. Alternately, you can send a message to my LinkedIn page here.
Several readers have written in suggesting that there really ought to be a profile photo on the About page here at Richard's Aero Notes. Some of them have been rather insistent about this point. Over time I've come to accept that they are probably right, and so after years of trying to keep my photo off the Internet, I have reluctantly agreed to their demands. But first, in order to illustrate where this reluctance comes from, I will share a joke:
Question: How do you know if an engineer is an introvert?
Answer: They look at their shoes when they are talking to you.
